New Jersey Technology Council
Connecting Innovation, Capital and Government in the Garden State…and beyond

The NJTC, now in its 12th year of supporting technological companies, has succeeded in making New Jersey the “go-to state” for growth-oriented innovators. The NJTC offers its 1,000+ member companies access to networking, financing resources, expertise and more. A private, non-for-profit membership organization, the NJTC fosters and grows a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit and nurtures a community where great ideas take flight.

FOCUS on TECHNOLOGIES:

The NJTC holds programs in six industry verticals: IT/Software, Nanotechnology, Telecommunications/Media, Life Sciences, Electronics and Advanced Manufacturing, & Energy/Environment/Engineering The Council is proud to call the industries’ most exciting companies “members;” they are bringing us tomorrow’s technologies today, connecting the world through state of the art telecommunications, changing healthcare as we know it, and helping to save the environment with astounding technologies.
 
CONFERENCES:

NJTC proudly boasts three of the most exciting finance conferences in the entire country – NJTC Capital Conference, NJTC Venture Conference and the NJTC Public/Private Company Showcase each attract hundreds of entrepreneurs and financiers with great ideas and capital to invest. These events are fabulous connectors and grow every year with new faces, innovations and information.

The NJTC CIO Conference brings together end users; Bootcamp is an intense workshop for new-to-the scene technology companies; the Regional Commercialization Conference emphasizes collaboration at every level and between industry and academia; regularly scheduled expos focus on IT Success Stories, Electronics and more.

Additionally, new conferences are added every year – allowing us to stay ahead of the trends! In 2008, the NJTC held a Wireless Conference. This year, we look forward to our first Enviro-Energy Conference!

NETWORKING GALORE:

The NJTC is more than a calendar of events and conferences and access to funding. Networking is one of the biggest reasons why companies join the NJTC. We take having fun and growing connections very seriously! The NJTC has vibrant peer networks;  CEOs, CIOs, CFOs and funding professionals come together regularly at fun and educational programs to share ideas, strategies, concerns and more. And, if you enjoy golfing – you couldn’t have more fun than a day on the links for NJTC friends!

ACCESS TO CAPITAL:

The NJTC launched the NJTC Venture Fund, an $80 million early stage fund dedicated to growing technology right here in New Jersey, in 2001. The portfolio boasts myriad impressive companies and the fund has enjoyed several successful exits. The NJTC is seeking to launch a second venture fund in 2009.

Jumpstart NJ is the region’s most successful network of angel investors. To date, the group made up of high net worth individual investors who collaborate on deals, has invested over $17 million.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS:

The NJTC believes democracy is NOT a spectator sport! The organization has a vibrant Government Affairs Committee, makes its presence known in Trenton and Washington and has launched many grassroots efforts to help support issues and efforts vital to the growth of technology business in New Jersey.

PUBLICATIONS

TechNews covers the business of technology in New Jersey. This monthly publication is all about showcasing NJTC members and their technologies as well as sharing the latest news, trends and expert advice critical to growing a technology business in New Jersey.

LifeSci Trends, a quarterly magazine, hones in on particular topics and, in each issue, covers a hot trend from every angle – all in the life sciences sectors.

EDUCATION FOUNDATION

The Brain Drain does exist! New Jersey’s best and brightest are lured away every year. The NJTC is committed to stopping the exodus and keeping tomorrow’s highly educated technology workforce right here… we want students to attend NJ universities and launch their careers in New Jersey. To that end, the NJTC Education Foundation brings business and academia together to foster collaborative relationships through teacher visits to member companies and student mentoring.

RECOGNITION
At the NJTC, we believe all members should be spotlighted and recognized for their contributions to the NJ technology community. To that end, the NJTC Gala brings together hundreds of the technology elite in the region to celebrate the “Best of the Year” awards. Each year, the NJTC names a CIO of the Year and financial execs are lauded at the CFO Awards Breakfast each spring. Also, the most exciting up-and-comers are showcased by the NJTC Venture Conference Awards.
