Turning Solid Waste Into Energy
Enviro Energy Industry Network

Date: December 1, 2009 Online Registration is Closed.

Time: 2:45 PM - 4:30 PM

Location
Union County Utilities Authority
1499 U.S. Highway 1
Rahway, NJ 07065
Municipal waste to energy is a fantastic way to turn the garbage we discard into a renewable energy source that can help heat and power our homes. Municipal solid waste, also called MSW, can be a big renewable energy source that has other environmental benefits as well. When our garbage is turned into municipal waste energy, the benefits are numerous. There is less garbage to clutter and fill our landfills, so that fewer landfills are needed and less trash is thrown out.

As the implementing agency for the Union County District Solid Waste Management Plan, the Union County Utilities Authority is empowered to plan, acquire, construct, maintain and operate facilities for the processing, disposal and/or recycling of solid waste in an environmentally sound manner. Join us as we tour the plant and hear a panel of experts on how these efforts can cut our use of foreign based oil products and make the country more sustainable.

Panel members will include:

Nicole Bujalski, US Environmental Protection Agency
Bob Dombrowski, Principal, Nanoview Associates, LLC
Lorraine Graves, Environmental Specialist, US Environmental Protection Agency
Prof. Adeniyi Lawal, Chemical Engineering & Materials Science, Stevens Institute of Technology
Sunil Garg, Executive Director, Union County Utilities Authority
