Company: Fictional Technologies, Inc.

Industry Type:
IT/Software

Summary of Business Description & Strategy:
Fictional Technologies, Inc. (FTI) seeks to commercialize a specialized electronic publishing system. The FTI concept envisions the establishment of a franchise network to sell its service. The company will offer its service through an on-line service as well as through a CD-ROM package. FTI's product generally will employ these methods to transfer "public domain" and "minimum royalty" documents to users of such information.

There is an enormous amount of public information on specialized topics. These topics include technical "knowhow" information relevant to commercial and industrial users, consumer-oriented manufacturers as well as "How-to-do-it" information. This data can be gathered from the U.S. Government through sponsored research projects as well as various commercial/institutional sources. FTI has determined that there has been limited "readily available" and rapid methods of obtaining such information (ie, Government printing offices, university libraries, and limited over-the-counter retail sales, etc.)

The FTI executive team believes there is a niche business with enormous potential in this specialized technology transfer field. FTI believes the use of advanced delivery systems such as high speed optical transmission technology, high speed printing techniques and a franchise network and information-distribution system can be established. On-line and CD-ROM delivery systems with end users of information are estimated to have a substantial and immediate market potential.
